Starting today, you can pay and receive money from your contacts using Google Assistant. Google Assistant will be getting the Google Pay integration which will allow you to use Google voice assistant to send commands. For now, Android and iOS smartphones will have this feature but they will also be added to smart home speakers in the near future.
Those who already have Google Pay account can start immediately. For those who don’t, they will be guided through the process step-by-step when they try to send the money for the first time using virtual assistant. You will be able to transfer instantly and your friend can cash it out if they have Google Pay account.
As far as security is concerned, Google Assistant will not send money with only your voice. You will need to confirm the transaction with your Google account password or fingerprint.
Apple’s virtue assistant, Siri, already has Apple Pay integrated to Apple iPhones. Google had already combined Android Pay and Google Wallet into Google Pay earlier this year. It looks like Google is competing with Amazon’s Alexa, Venmo as well as Zelle.
